Autism

Autism occurs when a child has trouble communicating and understanding what others think and feel. Usually, this complex developmental disability becomes apparent during the first three years of life. Autism is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain, impacting development in the areas of social interaction, communication skills, and behavior. This makes it very difficult for autistic children to respond to gestures, facial expressions, touch, and even language.
