Fear can kill your spirit. It can be debilitating. Fear can make us freeze in place and believe that everything that is wrong is our fault; that we are out of control. As a parent, fear can make us believe that we are the worst parent in the world; and if you are a parent of a child with a disability, fear makes this guilt feel unbearable, making us want to hide and not face the world.

The Parent Information Center (PIC) is available to support parents throughout the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) process. We support parents from disability identification, to IEP eligibility, and onto transitions from school. Unfortunately, most parents contact PIC once communication has broken down between the school district and themselves.

Most people are afraid of the IEP process. Even the educators are afraid, in most cases, they want to get things right for your child. If you miss an IEP meeting, or don’t have the paperwork in order, you can feel like it’s ‘your fault’. However, jumping in at any time will help your child. They need you.
