Parents...do you want to make a difference for other families of children with disabilities? The Parent Information Center has the following open position:

Outreach Parent Liaison

Riverton: Part-time, starting at $10-$17/hour, depending on educational background, plus 15% retirement annuity. The area of responsibility includes Riverton, Lander, Dubois, Shoshoni & Wind River Reservation.

Qualifications: Preferably a parent or family member of a child with disabilities, must have personal experience of the IEP and special education process. Must possess good public speaking and interpersonal communication skills.

Basic Responsibilities: The Outreach Parent Liaisons main priority is providing workshops and trainings in their region. Another priority is to support families on a one-on-one basis concerning IEP and disability issues. The Outreach Liaisons’ are the “fingers” into the community who offer support and information on a personal basis, while being a voice for PIC in their community. The Project Director is the PIC Outreach Parent Liaisons direct supervisor.

Specific job functions:

  1. Provide 16 workshops in region/yr (8 each season Sept- Dec, Jan- May). Training will be provided in workshop content
  2. Provide individual support to families
  3. Attend IEP/IFSP meetings upon request
  4. Maintain and update resources and contacts for central office database
  5. Provide a local “voice” for PIC by attending local interagency and planning meetings
  6. Serve as a liaison between local community and region and the central PIC office
  7. Document activities and contacts on monthly basis
  8. Attend two staff trainings in Buffalo yearly (absolute requirement)
